2008 Report of 2008 Alabamaearthdog Trial Nov 14 thru Nov 16th.


The 2008 Alabama Earthdog Trial was held November 14th, 15th, and 16th amid groves of pecan and citrus trees on the grounds of Auburn University‘s Experimental Farm in Fairhope, Alabama.

The AWTA Den Test was held Friday afternoon, followed on Saturday and Sunday by the AKC events sponsored by BTCA and the Alabama/Gulf South Border Terrier Club. 4 testing opportunities were offered over the 3 day period

Entries
AKC
154 dogs started over the 3 AKC events on Saturday and Sunday with about 30% qualifying.
AWTA
42 dogs entered the AWTA trial comprising 54 starters. Many won Novice Ribbons and 7 Certificates of Gameness were earned.

Volunteers
A good trial requires really good volunteers, and for this event the volunteers were fantastic. Could not have been held without them. More later in the full report

Test Committee
Co-chairs for the event were Larry Greene and H. C. "Moon" Mullins with Honorary Chair, Pat Quinn. Amanda Stewart did a brilliant job as Secretary. Other committee members were Donna Greene, Sandra Middlebrooks, Penny Burt, and Tim Stewart.

The 2008 Alabama Earthdog Trial was held November 14th, 15th, and 16th amid groves of pecan and citrus trees on the grounds of Auburn University‘s Experimental Farm in Fairhope, Alabama.
The weather was terrific, the grounds were excellent, the judges knowledgable, helpful, fair and consistant, and the handlers and dogs performed at a high level. All in all a very enjoyable and productive weekend.

The AWTA Den Test was held Friday afternoon, followed on Saturday and Sunday by the AKC events sponsored by BTCA and the Alabama/Gulf South Border Terrier Club. 4 testing opportunities were offered over the 3 day period

Alabama/Gulf South Border Terrier Club Annual Membership Meeting 12 Noon, Nov 15th at Auburn Experimental Farm, Fairhope, Al


All Members Are Encouraged to Attend and Participate


The Alabamaearthdog "group" of Border Enthusiasts has become the "Alabama/Gulf South Border Terrier Club" - a regional club of the BTCA. Club information will be published in the BTCA publications, the Borderline and Connections, as well as on the BTCA web site.

This web site has been modified to reflect these changes.

The tradition is the same, the people are the same and initiially the focus will be the same - hosting the Annual November Earthdog Tests (Nov 14-16,2008), with the option of adding other events as interest and opportunity develop.

The term "Alabama/Gulf South" describes the region from whence entrants have been drawn for the earlier Foxley and Alabamaearthdog tests. (Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, and Florida).
